The Project
Design Brief
Metonboss, founded in 2019 in California, was later acquired by Sam Patel. Our mandate was
clear—revamp the brand from the ground up without losing community connection.
At first glance, it seemed simple: a Shopify store with solid listings and a loyal customer community. But
in reality, it required a deeper transformation.
Metonboss crafts products from exotic metals—scales, coins, beads, lanyards, and vaults—finished with
laser and flaming techniques. Its strength lies in customization: customers select metals, engraving, and
surface treatment, and each product is crafted to order.
With strong social engagement and an active community, this wasn’t just a website redesign—it was
reshaping a brand people were connected to, requiring a balance of innovation and sensitivity.
Our Approach
Our first priority was to communicate change effectively. We worked closely with the client to keep
customers informed across all channels—sharing updates on product fulfillment, new launches, and
improvements.
This positioned Sam Patel as a forward-thinking leader, while attracting new customers through fresh
strategies and innovation. His semiconductor industry background also helped streamline backend
operations, services, and manufacturing—ensuring seamless order-to-delivery accuracy.
The product catalogue was massive—over 12,000 products, including variations such as knife scales for
brands like Hinderer, Spyderco, Swiss Army Knives, and Benchmade—standard knives that customers
could personalize with exotic metals and engravings, allowing customers to create products that told their
own story. Each brand had multiple models, metals, and engraving options (65+ for titanium alone),
creating an overwhelming experience.
We streamlined this complexity by consolidating the catalogue into under 1000 listings through
conditional logic, making ordering a frictionless 2–3 step process.
We redesigned the logo with a clean, typeface-based identity and built strategic communication rolled out
across email, digital, and social channels—later handed to the internal team for consistency. On Shopify,
we implemented deep custom coding for navigation, packing slips, SEO, and backend processes. Listings
were structured with SKU strings synced to Sellercloud, directly connecting the website to manufacturing
and ensuring accurate production and shipping.
Before launch, we ran a detailed customer survey to uncover gaps in the earlier Metonboss experience
with 200+ responses. We learned that while customers loved the brand and products, there were important
pain points—mainly around servicing times. These insights guided operational refinements and informed
the website redesign, aligning the new site with customer expectations.
The new site went live on June 27, 2025, and was quickly embraced, driving steady orders and positive
feedback. Post-launch, we expanded the catalogue with limited editions, new products, and fresh
engraving offerings while running targeted email and digital campaigns to boost visibility. The response
was overwhelmingly positive, with strong website performance and deeper community engagement.
The brand also showcased their products at the Idaho Knife Show in August 2025. We enabled the booth
with catalogues, brochures and collaterals designed for interaction at the booth.
Today, the brand continues to innovate with services like custom engraving submissions for coins and
vaults—deepening customer connection while fueling growth.
We remain their preferred design partner, supporting all initiatives. Metonboss is a part of InDesign
